Healthy Breakfast Ideas

If you have been searching for healthy breakfast ideas, then we’ve got you covered. You probably already know that breakfast is an important meal in your day. Some researchers have said that it is the most important meal in the day.

There are so many reasons why you should take a few minutes to have breakfast every morning. Studies have shown that adults who skip breakfast are more vulnerable to weight gain and obesity.

If you know how vital breakfast is, but still skip that meal, then you are not alone. For most people, the problem is there are not enough healthy options.

Below we have gathered a number of healthy breakfast ideas so that you have variety when you are planning your meals.

TURMERIC OATMEAL

Adding turmeric to your meal is a healthy option, particularly when added to oatmeal, which is already filled with healthy fibre.

Turmeric is a superfood that has several health benefits and acts as a cleanser for your system.

This recipe below is one of our healthy breakfast ideas using turmeric, and is just what you need to get your day started.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup porridge oats

1/2 cup plant milk

1/2 cup water

1/4 tsp turmeric

Small handful of raisins

Topping suggestions: hemp seeds, fresh/frozen mixed berries and plant milk

Process:

imply place all the oatmeal ingredients in a small pot over medium-high heat.

Ones the oatmeal comes to a boil you might want to turn the heat down and/or stir often.

Serve with your favourite toppings. I used hemp seeds, thawed frozen berries and creamy soya milk.

Tip: Double (triple or quadruple) the ingredients to serve more people.

SPIRULINA BANANA WHIP

Spirulina is another power food that has tremendous benefits. Exploring healthy breakfast ideas using spirulina is a great way to boost the power of your meal.

The benefits of the blue-green micro algae include anticancer and antiviral properties and it is also used to aid the reduction of cholesterol, among other benefits.

Making a spirulina banana whip makes for a creative breakfast option particularly when you top it with delicious goodness.

Ingredients:

Ripe banana

4 frozen ripe bananas

3/4 cup | 180 ml. plant-based milk

1 tbsp spirulina powder

(optional: 2 tbsp maple syrup)

TOP WITH

A few tablespoons of roasted almond butter

Sliced banana

Sliced strawberries

Passionfruit halves

Mixed berries

Walnuts (or any nuts & seeds)

Coconut flakes

Desiccated coconut

Fresh mint leaves

Process:

Start by gathering, preparing and measuring all of the ingredients. This will improve your dynamic in the kitchen.

Cut all bananas in large chunks and throw them in a food processor or high speed blender.

Blend until a thick and smooth ice-cream like mixture is formed.

With the motor running, slowly feed the plant-based milk into your food processor or blender.

At last, add the spirulina powder and blend until it is combined.

Pour the whip in two bowls, swirl in the almond butter and top with all the goodies. Serve and enjoy immediately!

COCONUT AND SPIRULINA BREAKFAST BOWL

The next recipe is another great breakfast idea that is not only healthy, but is loaded with super goodness. You could take it as a meal or as dessert; it is that yummy.

Ingredients:

2 oz soaked cashew nuts (soaked overnight in water)

2 dates

1 frozen banana

splash of almond milk

1 tsp spirulina powder

For the topping:

3-4 oz coconut yogurt

raspberries

mulberries

Process:

Rinse and drain the cashew nuts.

Mix ingredients together on high in a blender.

Take care not to use too much milk because it will turn in a smoothie and not a cream.

Top with fresh yogurt and mulberries, nuts or seeds of your choice.

GREEN DREAM CHLORELLA CREAM

Our next recipe uses the goodness that is chlorella, a freshwater microalga that is loaded with proteins, amino acids, vitamins and other health benefits.

This recipe is a delicious cream made with chlorella which you can use in a variety of ways. You can use it on fresh green salad and even on your cereal.

Ingredients:

½ cup raw liquid honey (vegans use maple syrup)

1-3 tsp. chlorella

2-4 Tbsp. raw tahini

Process:

Place honey in a bowl and whisk in chlorella until thoroughly combined.

Add the tahini, one tablespoon at a time and whisk. You can add as much tahini as you like, but I find the cream tends to become quite solid if I put in too much (plus it will depend on how runny your tahini is). I like to drizzle this stuff after all, not roll it into balls (but that could be another great snack…)

Store chlorella cream in the fridge, either in a squeeze bottle for optimal drizzle action, or in a glass jar.

CHLORELLA BEAUTY SMOOTHIE

If you are not really a breakfast person, but you want to turn over a new leaf, then you could start with a smoothie, like this one. When it is well made, a smoothie is usually packed with powerful nutrients, enough to jumpstart your day.

Ingredients:

1 c. filtered water

1/2 ripe banana

1 big handful fresh spinach

4 oz. fresh/frozen coconut meat

1 Tbsp. tocos

2 grams chlorella

5 fresh mint leaves

1/4 tsp. ground vanilla

Process:

Put all ingredients in a high speed blender and process until smooth. Drink slowly and enjoy!

This smoothie can be made in large batches and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Drink as close to room temp as possible.

It’s time to stop skipping breakfast. There are so many healthy breakfast ideas that you can try and the ones we’ve listed are loaded with nutrients to get you supercharged through your day.
